Soon: New York Celebration of Women in Computing 2023
A brief note on a meaningful event. Registration is near its close!
NYCWiC 2023 is almost here - April 14-15 in Lake George, New York. I have the honor of being a volunteer co-organizer for the event, and I’ve helped set up some of the mentoring components as well as communications work. Please register ASAP as the hotel and venue is filling up fast.
Last year’s keynote of Melissa Lee was one of my all-time favorites, in that she laid out the trajectory of her personal and career development, alongside some helpful tips for navigating ones own career: such as an infographic about professional relationships and communication & expectations therein.
This year’s keynotes look to be just as promising:
Society-Ethics-Tech @ NYCWiC 2023
We also have a presentation with Orthogonal Research and Education Lab’s Society-Ethics-Tech (SET) team on Key Concepts in Tech Careers & Tech Ethics in 2023: AI-Generated Content, Open Source + Open Data, and Beyond.
SET has a strong history of interdisciplinary and collaborative presentations at NYCWiC, and this year we’re aiming to further that by talking about these important issues.
I’ll give a recap post after the event - hope to see you there!
